Midday: no new Tier-A, and all four leaders re-checked live at unchanged prices — the Jackson 5.0 at $8,250 is 16 hours old and still there. The one to watch is a 2013 Silverado Z71 double cab, 110k miles, one owner, clean title at $9,999 — Tier-A numbers, but the seller account was created in 2026 and the ad brags about modified suspension, so it is a VIN check and a phone call before it is a drive. Also new: a 2016 F-150 Lariat at the same Cliffwood lot that has been sitting on the Tacoma for 14 days.

TITLENOT STATED — ask before anything else

The Tundra profile you actually want, and 25 minutes away. Seller states NO frame rust — that is the one thing that kills these — and the maintenance reads like a tow rig: oil every 4,500-5,000, front diff + transfer case + rear diff all changed every 10-15k and done recently, new front rotors/calipers/pads, fairly new tires. Offers a test drive and welcomes your mechanic. Honest about the bad too: paint is rough, a little surface rust, minor dents. The catch is the price and the miles — $15,000 is the top of your budget for a 168k truck, and he has not posted a single photo yet, he is fishing for a number. Not a bargain, but for towing the boat to the Adirondacks a 5.7 double cab with serviced diffs beats the Tacoma at the same money.

⚠ title status NOT stated — confirm clean before driving out · no photos posted yet — seller is gauging price, may not be serious · 168k miles, top-of-budget price — offer accordingly · verify the no-frame-rust claim yourself underneath

$9,999 2013 Silverado 1500 Double Cab Z71 LT 4×4 — 110k, 1 owner ⚠ new accountNEW 5.3 V8 (2013 Z71 LT — the good pre-2014 generation you specified) · Double Cab (4 full doors) · 110k mi · New York, NY (vague — pin down before driving) Highest upside and highest risk on the board. On paper it is a Tier-A truck: 2013 5.3 Z71 4×4 double cab, 110,000 miles, one owner, clean title, new tires, seller claims zero rust, zero leaks, no check-engine lights, cold A/C — $9,999. The problem is the seller account was created in 2026 and has no rating history, which is the exact profile behind both confirmed traps in this hunt, and the ad brags about "modified suspension," which is not what you want under a tow rig. Held at Tier-B on purpose. Treat as a phone-and-VIN job before you spend a Saturday on it. $13,600 2016 F-150 Lariat SuperCab — 150k, clean title (Route 35 Auto Group)NEW not stated — ASK (5.0 vs EcoBoost) · SuperCab · 150k mi · Neptune City, NJ (dealer lot: 145 Route 35, Cliffwood) Worth knowing because it is the SAME DEALER as the Cliffwood Tacoma sitting at #4 — Route 35 Auto Group, 145 Route 35. One stop, two trucks to look at, and a dealer who has now had the Tacoma unsold for 14 days is a dealer with room to move. The ad itself is a financing pitch with no engine, no drivetrain and no cab detail beyond SuperCab, so Tier-B until someone answers the 5.0-vs-EcoBoost question. $14,188 2015 F-150 XL — 96k miles, dealer (engine/cab unstated)NEW not stated; listing says Flex fuel ⇒ 3.5 base V6 or 5.0 V8, NOT an EcoBoost · not stated — XL trim can be regular cab, ASK · 96k mi · Langhorne, PA The lowest miles on any F-150 in this hunt — 96,081 — and the Flex-fuel tag is actually useful: it rules out the EcoBoosts, so this is either the base 3.5 V6 or the 5.0 V8 you want. Two unknowns decide whether it is a deal or a trap at $14,188: which engine, and which cab (XL is the work trim and can be a regular cab, which is an instant disqualifier). Established 34-year dealer, so the answers are one phone call away. $12,995 2015 Silverado 1500 — 141k, buy-here-pay-here lot, zero specsNEW not stated · not stated · 142k mi · Trenton, NJ A buy-here-pay-here credit pitch with a truck attached — the ad is entirely financing copy and states no engine, no cab, no drivetrain, no title. Ram 1500 is Tier-B by your own spec, and Lansdowne is a 75-mile haul outside Philly, so it is a drive-only-if-the-Fords-fall-through truck. Engine cheat sheet

Ford F-150 (2011–2020)

5.0 Coyote V8 = the target. Avoid 3.5/2.7 EcoBoost for this use (turbos + winter towing = more drama). Engine is usually only in the seller description — always confirm.

Toyota Tundra (2007–2021)

5.7 V8 = bulletproof, thirsty. 4.6 ok. Pre-2010: crawl under and check the FRAME — rust recalls.

Chevy/GMC 1500

5.3 V8 2009–2013 = sweet spot. 2014+ 5.3 has AFM lifter-failure risk — page only, never a top pick.

Toyota Tacoma (2012+)

Must be the 3.5/4.0 V6 (~6,400 lb tow). The 2.7 4-cyl tows ~3,500 lb — not enough for the boat. Base SR/Access-cab trims are often the 4-cyl.

Hard rules

4-door crew/double cab (4 real seats) · 4×4 · clean title · under ~200k mi · no HD/diesel (rides like a dump truck, overkill) · rust kills the deal before miles do.

Seller check

New FB account + big rating count + below-market price = flipper/curbstoner → demand CARFAX + pre-purchase inspection. Old account (2009-ish) + ratings = established. Clean title in writing, always.
